Navigating whole-class discussions brings with it a series of challenges. In early stages, we are often focused on just getting our students to share out ideas and questions. As the class develops more comfort around sharing, how do we get students to build on one another's ideas? Or, once the ideas are out there, how do we organize and evaluate them? What do you do if a student offers an idea that is really out there or blatantly wrong? These are all questions you will face as you engage your class in conversations about phenomena and the model ideas that help us to make sense of them.
