We have found that assessment practices are highly individual and variable from teacher to teacher. Rather than embed all assessments into the curricular sequence on each triangle we are working to collect a range of assessment types from teachers who have been implementing MBER-LE in their classrooms. In this way you will have some options to draw from as you design your own assessment scheme that works for you. We hope that you will use both formative and summative assessment practices. Please be certain to read the general information provided through the three buttons below about our philosophy on Summative Assessments and Formative Assessments-- as well as the Challenge Questions that are already integrated into the curricular resources.
In the future, we will link to an assessments repository that will provide teacher-generated assessments for you to use and modify throughout the year. These assessments will not contain the MBER logo: they will be the creation of users just like you. So please consider contributing by contacting us directly.
Tips for how to productively incorporate assessment while simultaneously tracking points that ultimately allow for numerical grading can be found through the links below and littered throughout the individual resources in the table.
Please also read through the MBER Essentials to learn more about assessment tools.
We hope that, over time, this page will become a repository of sample assessments from users like you implementing model-based instruction in their classrooms!
